Justin Brookes
Justin Brookes is a lecturer at Adelaide University. He has worked in the water sector for 30 years and commenced at SA Water upon completion of his PhD in 1998. Justin’s research spans cyanobacteria, lake and reservoir management, pathogen transport, aquatic biogeochemistry, microbial ecology and more recently sawfish and crocodile ecology. He has published more than 200 refereed journal papers, 10 book chapters and four books on lake and reservoir management. Justin has secured more than $35million in research funding and his applied research supports water policy and planning. Justin has supervised 30 PhD students and lectures to 500 undergraduate students each year. In 2025 he was awarded the prestigious Hilary Jolly Award by the Australian Society of Freshwater Sciences.
